True Story.

I can't let this story escape my memory. One day I may need it when Liam brings a girl to the house for dinner. Instead of showing embarrassing photos, I will tell this disgusting story. And I will watch her run far, far away.
Last Friday, I was nursing Kenley in the evening while Liam played quietly in the living room. He was behind the couch but I could hear him babbling so I knew he was close by. Everything got just a little too quiet. I asked him what he was doing and he came around the couch to face me. Naked. He had a look of confusion on his face and he had obviously removed his diaper. I thought about continuing to nurse Kenley and letting him run "free" for a few minutes until I was done, but I needed to see where this diaper went. I could never have guessed what I would see. There, on the floor, was a huge pile of poop, next to a dirty diaper. I scooped him up, got him into the bathtub and in his bath seat. I came back out to the living room to pick up the diaper from the floor and the poop that was once on my living room floor was gone. Not completely gone, but 98.99% gone. Our dog had eaten the disgusting mess on the floor. I have never experienced anything like that in my life.
My dog repulses me. I have witnessed Liam trying to remove his diaper once more since the incident. I am now fearful of what could happen if I take my eyes off of him for a second. I have Bissel-ed the heck out of the stain on my carpet only to continue avoiding the area myself and reminding my husband what happened there each time his foot comes close to touching it.
I only have one question for you.
Do you want to come over to our house and play later?
I didn't think so.
Mind if we come to your house?

And, for those of you wondering when we are getting our carpets cleaned? As soon as my kid and my dog stop being so darn disgusting.

  1. Oh my gosh - I absolutely love this story! I was laughing out loud!!! Some of the "greatest" things happen when you're nursing the baby - right? I was kindof expecting you to say that Liam took off a poopy diaper, so I was laughing when you said he pooped next to it. And I totally didn't expect the dog to eat it - that. is. awesome! Thank you so much for sharing this - totally made my day!
